GR88 offers a wide range of online poker tournaments at many different stakes. Our poker software also provides many gamesmanship features that make online tournament play every bit as exciting as playing live poker events. Read on to learn about the different types of poker tournaments we offer. Scroll to the bottom of the page for some tournament FAQs.
A guaranteed tournament offers a guranteed minimum prize pools regardless of how many players buy in. GR88 has guaranteed tournaments running all day every day at a variety of different stakes. Our biggest tournament is run every Sunday at 15:00 server time, when we gurantee a huge $100,000 prize pool in our biggest tournament of the week. For more details click here.
Satellite tournaments award seats into a larger buyin tournament as prizes. For example, the GR88 poker room runs satellite events for the World Series of Poker, where you can win your Seat in Las Vegas for a fraction of the usual $10,000 buyin. We also run satellites to other live events like the World Poker Tour and Aussie Millions. We even run satellites into our own tournaments - instead of buying into the Sunday $100k for $109, you could win your way in for free by participating in the 100 seats to the $100k freeroll promotion.
A bounty tournament awards players a cash prize for each player they personally eliminate from the event. For example a $10 buyin bounty tournament may put $5 from each player toward the main prize pool and a $5 bounty on the head of each participant. If you personally bust out 4 players, but do not finish in the money, you would still be awarded $20 (4 x $5 bounties).
A shootout poker tournament is one where the winner of each individual table progresses to the next stage of the tournament. There is no shufflingof players between table - you have to win each table that you are seated at to advance.
A Sit & Go tournament is one that starts when all of its available seats are filled. The most popular Sit & Go tournaments at GR88 are single table tournaments with either 2 (heads up), 6 or 10 players. But we also offer multi table Sit & Go's. There are even satellite Sit & Go's that award entry coupons to other tournaments.
Freeroll tournaments are simply tournaments that are free to enter. But just because a tournament is free to enter, it does not always mean that it is open to anybody - sometimes there are other requirements for eligibility. All freerolls available in the GR88 tournament lobby will explain the requirements for entry within the tournament details screen. For example the daily $500 freerolls for new players are only available for the first 14 days after you make your first deposit.
Q: What are Rebuys & Add-ons
A: Some tournaments offer players the ability to purchase more chips if their stack dips below a set number of chips or they bust out of a tournament before a certain level - this is known as a Rebuy. An Add-on is similar to a rebuy except it is offered to players at a particular time in the tournament, and allows them to simply purchase more chips to add to their stack. Not all tournaments offer rebuys or add-ons, you should check each tournament's details in the lobby to determine which do.
Q: What are satellite entry coupons?
A: An entry coupon is an easy way to buy into tournaments. Sometimes as a part of a promotion, or as a prize from a satellite tournament, you will be issued with tournament entry coupons. They often have a cash value such as $11 ($10+$1). These coupons will allow you to enter most tournaments at that buyin amount. Some entry coupons are only valid for particular tournaments. If you should have any questions about coupons issued to your account, please contact the GR88 support team.
Q: If I deposit, for how long am I able to play the new depositor freerolls?
A: All new depositors are eligible to play in the daily $500 tournaments for new players for 14 days.
Q: If I win a satellite tournament and a seat in a live event, do I have to travel and play in the event?
A: You should check the terms and conditions of each particular promotion, but usually the prizes are not transferrable. Sometimes you may be able to cash in a portion of the prize. Most players love the chance to play in live events, but our advice is to not play in tournaments that give prizes you do not wish to claim!
Q: Can you change the time of a tournament so I can play?
A: GR88 offers poker games to players from all over the world. Unfortunately this means that not all tournament times are convenient for all of our players in different time zones. If there is a particular type of tournament you would like to see offered at a more convenient time, please let us know and we may be able to organise something for you.
