Holdem Poker Games

GR88 offers three different holdem poker games in our online poker room. We deal Texas Hold'em, as well as Omaha and Omaha Hi/Lo. All our holdem poker games involve five cards being shared by the community, dealt in three phases - the flop, turn and river.

Texas Hold'em

Texas Hold'em is currently the world's most popuar poker game. It is the game featured in nearly all televised poker games and the main event of the World Series of Poker.

Texas Hold'em is very easy to play. All players are dealt two cards, known as your hole cards. The two players to the left of the dealer then make compulsory bets known as the big and small blinds to start the betting action. After the first round of bets, three cards are laid face up on the table, these are known as the flop. Another round of betting occurs, then another community card is dealt - the turn. The second last round of betting occurs then the final card is dealt - the river. After the river is dealt, the final round of betting takes place. The object of the game is to make the best five card poker hand from the two hole cards and the 5 community cards. Once bettingis complete, a showdown occurs and the player with best five card hand wins.

At GR88 you can play No Limit, Pot Limit or Limit Texas Hold'em games. No Limit is the most exciting variation, with any player in a hand able to go "All In" and risk all of their chips at any time.

Omaha

Omaha poker is a holdem game very similar to Texas Holdem, except that players are dealt four hole cards instead of two. It is also called Omaha High, and is usually played for pot limit stakes, a variation very popular with high stakes players.

Omaha is also different from Texas Holdem in the way that your hole cards can be used. In Omaha, you MUST use two of your hole cards in your final hand, along with three of the community cards.

Omaha Hi/Lo

Omaha Hi/Lo is played exactly the same as Omaha High, except that at showdown the pot is split evenly between the best hand and the lowest hand. It is often called Omaha Eight or Better as for anyone to qualify for the low hand, there must be three cards of differing ranks eight or below on the board.

Each player will try to complete an eligble five card high hand and a five card low hand. It is possible for the same player to win both halves of pot, especially if there is no qualifying low hand which allows the highest hand to scoop the whole pot. It is a very complex game compared to Texas Hold'em and Omaha High and is recommended for advanced players only.
